Has anyone met an african american man named "Eric Rawls" or "Ric Rawls".. phone number is (646)434-8187... Email is RicRawls@gmail.com.... claims to have a Global Company call "Rawls Collaborative" or "Rawls International"...
He is a Fake... A dilusiional scam artist!!.. He has nothing to offer but lies and he will toy with your life once he is in it.... The man looks homeless, and smells terrible.... Sometimes you may say looks can be deceiving, but don't take that literally with this case here!!... If he looks like a bum, smells like a bum and walks like a bum, he definitely is a bum!
Im sure there is a long list of people he has decieved or toyed with for some time besides myself!...
He offers jobs to people randomly throughout the financial district and hangs out mainly near Wall Street!!
He offered me a job as an HR Director at a pay rate of 5 million per year!!!... He offered me the job on June 4th 2010... We signed contracts for me to work on June 23rd 2010 for a start date of July 6th 2010... It is now August 15th 2010... In the contract, there was a sign on bonus for $500,000... I havent seen a website for his operations, an office, co-workers, employees, a business card, and he dresses in clothes that looked like i threw them away 14 years ago...
If anyone else has been scammed or toyed with by this man, please share your experience!!.. If anyone is in talks with this man, please beware!!

Yeah, we met in June or July at a gallery opening. He said he needed real estate for his top employees and some storefront space. I asked him for some basic information to begin doing research for the retail space which he was never able to provide. Same experience totally, except he only offered me 750k to be Global Real Estate Director with a 25k signing bonus. That pisses me off. He actually mentioned you, Lorenzo, as the HR contact who would be sending me my benefits package. I was torn as to whether he was delusional, absent minded, or eccentric, it's good to know that he's a fraud. Sucks though, 750k is no 5m, but felt like a lottery ticket. He didn't get any money or info out of me, and the only tangible losses were for a hamburger I ordered and ended up paying for when he took me out to a "business lunch" without having any money on him. Sucks, interested to hear more about your experience.
ReplyDelete"Only" 750K?? That's alot of money!
DeleteHe's in Virginia Beach! He comes in to Hhgregg on virginia beach blvd about twice a week. He told me and a co - worker that he was going to buy one million dollars in tv's from us. Then he said he was going to buy the whole company and give me and my co - worker 500 million a piece and make us the owners! What a guy.
DeleteRic Rawls is a certified, bona fide scam artist. He also had an acting scam where he claimed he was casting for a show called "Life." I auditioned for it in either 2006 or 2007, and hadn't heard back from him until 2009. The script was garbage. It was poorly edited with misspellings galore and it ripped off other shows (like the affirmative action bake sale scene from an episode of "Boston Public").
ReplyDeleteWhen I auditioned for him I wasn't represented by anyone, but years later when he finally contacted me I had a talent manager.
I go to this meeting two years after the audition, and Ric looked homeless as Lorenzo said. Smelly, dirty and long nasty nails. He asked to use my phone! (I made sure to wipe it down before I used it again.) He claimed that a huge cast was going to show up but only myself and another actor showed up. The actor wanted a contract to sign, and Ric claimed he'd get him one, but I doubt he did. Also, Ric said he'd edited the script, but between the audition and the two-year-later meeting, nothing had been changed or edited. I saw the same typos, the same trite dialogue, and the same crap. Since I was represented this time I told Ric to contact my manager, which he agreed to do. Then he calls me with an attitude, talking about he hadn't heard from them. Because I told you to contact them, dummy!
Ric also didn't have anything set up. There was no real cast, no location set for filming, the above-mentioned crap script, etc. Ric was making crap up on the fly.
I told my talent management about him and my suspicions, and they said he had YET ANOTHER acting scam where he promised another person represented by them a football commercial, where neither Ric nor a camera crew showed up. I don't think the talent for that was paid.
I told them if Ric tried to get me to sign anything, I wasn't interested. I'm glad I wised up by then, but I wish I were wise enough to walk away from the get-go. I never signed anything with him (thank god!), but he would constantly send mass e-mails until I changed my e-mail address.
Ric Rawls is definitely a scammer. He makes promises and doesn't keep them and tells lies. Has anyone heard of Gemase Simmons who was featured on Dateline? He and Ric have similar MOs.
Believing Ric's lies was the dumbest thing I've done, but at least the second time around I was smart enough to get someone else involved. I hope no one else has fallen for his scams, but if not I hope they share their stories here.
Oh, forgot to mention that Ric was in the DC area during my experience with him. Sounds from your story that he's moved his scamming operation to NYC.
ReplyDeleteLOL. OK, I'm not even going to ask why anyone on this blog would accept a position with Ric for 750K or 5 million dollars a year. I've met Ric about a half dozen times in DC between 2004-2009. He "works" out of both DC and NY and supposedly has partners in NY. Out of curiosity, I have been trying for years to figure out what his "umbrella" company actually does and people, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the answer is nothing really........All of his charities never actually get off of the ground despite his fundraising efforts (i.e. stealing money) and incessant networking. Let him scam the Trinity Grace Church in Chelsea and not you!
ReplyDeleteHere is his contact info. You can donate to his latest "charity" Heck, you can even buy his book although I'm sure it's unintelligible scribbling on loose leaf notebook paper!

OK, now I'm actually going to ask......why the hell would you accept a 5 million dollar a year job with a man that smells like piss and holds up his pants with rope? Even rich eccentrics would never make you an offer like that.........SERIOUSLY??????????
I actually enjoyed talking to him because it gave me something to giggle about later. I'm not trying to be harsh but my friends and I have been laughing about him for years and yes, we were all offered jobs......
Unfortunately, Ric has continued this game up and down the east coast. Offline he has referenced small business owners and people in his Linked In as part of his organization - Lorenzo did the right thing in posting this, because it helped me confirm that Ric was using his name (in fact after this blog went live). Ric is aware he's being dishonest, and can't provide any specifics beyond generalities. He's now continued his posts on Spreaker. He sound eloquent but he is aware that his posting are a fraud and without merit.
DeleteYou can find him now hanging at Marble Collegiate Church on 5th Avenue and 28th Street in NYC. He's always there and is involved with their LGBT group.
DeleteThanks Donald, it may take more than a group effort to get him the care he needs, because he uses images of people on his Instagram to bolster support.
DeleteHere is the Facebook page that he is trying to run as In The Loft. He's made overtures again and again claiming that the show exist and is "launching soon".
https://www.facebook.com/pg/inthelofttv/
OH BTW, you can read some of Ric's musings on his blog at http://erawls.blogspot.com/search?updated-min=2010-01-01T00%3A00%3A00-08%3A00&updated-max=2011-01-01T00%3A00%3A00-08%3A00&max-results=3. He hasn't posted in about 5 months but now he's giving advice on love and telling abused women how to protect themselves. I especially like his entry on his move to NYC in 2008 that describes how his company now has more than 200 subsidiaries (forget 80!!! we're now over 200!!!) LOL.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.lulu.com/ric_rawls - here are the books also.
DeleteHe was doing his thing at a venue showing launch party. Enjoying the free food and drink. Having the pleasure of sitting next to him, he accidentally spit in my food several times.. Needless to say I didn't eat, but heard the same stories mentioned above...
ReplyDelete"I actually enjoyed talking to him because it gave me something to giggle about later. I'm not trying to be harsh but my friends and I have been laughing about him for years and yes, we were all offered jobs...... "
ReplyDeleteYes, the experience makes for great stories. After the "Life" meeting (which was in 2008, not 2009 like I originally said), I went to my nearby cousin's house, showed her the garbage script and laughed at how ludicrous the whole experience was. I mean, who does he think he is with this mess?
And I took a quick peek at his blog. Cut and paste are his friends!
HAHAHA... I'm so glad I'm not the only one! I knew this dude in college (yes he actually went) Ran into him in DC looking tweaked out of his mind and homeless. Same thing in NYC he started offering me jobs. Needless to say his "office" was the apple store in soho. haha
ReplyDeleteI THINK he's harmless, but literally delusional. I think he actually thinks he has the money and a company.
This guy had given me a ton of resumes of people to call for positions that didnt exist... and had people calling me, asking me if i was the HR contact for his company...
ReplyDeleteive met millionaires who dress like crap before, but his clothing and smell just got worse as the days went on... i was fooled at first, i cant lie, but after a short while, i already knew what was up
ReplyDeleteLorenzo you did the right thing. I never did thank you for trying to alert me to Ric's attempt to use names of people he comes across. Your effort probably kept my business from ruin. Thank you.
DeleteI knew Eric In college as well. He was homeless then and slept on my couch for a short while. Haven't seen him in years. He just contacted me via facebook, and it smelled just like a scam of course, so I made sure it was him and found this blog. I remember Eric to be very delusional and confused. He is most likely very harmless, and might have some shortcomings mentally that makes him believe these things he is doing. I feel bad for Eric.
ReplyDeleteI met Eric in DC back in 2003/4 and he promised several things and, as you will guess, none of them came true. Luckily I never wasted much time with him. He was rather clean and coherent.
ReplyDeleteYears later I ran in to him in Adams Morgan, DC and he was disheveled, wearing a dirty wrinkled suit, and semi-incoherently telling me about how he was running a billion-dollar company.
I hope he gets the help that he needs.
I work a food cart in NYC and I see him a lot. I knew he was homeless immediately, but I made the mistake of not shooing him away. Every time I see him, he tells me I need to come work for him and that he's bought me a media company that I'm the CEO of. He's constantly telling me he's going to bring me paperwork to sign and that the company has great benefits, blah blah blah. Seeing how far he would go with it, I asked to see his card and NATURALLY he didn't have one on him that day. But he wrote down his name and number on a napkin and out of pure curiosity, I Googled him. I'm pretty shocked to find this. And also fascinated.

DeleteMy wife and I are Realtors in NC. Ric just contacted us wanting more information on a 3.9M house listed nearby. I sent him info and he responded,
ReplyDelete"Thank you. I am looking forward to it. I will be purchasing at least 3 homes in the area for me and my employees - or more. We are building an entetainment center there among other things. So thanks and this is totally a cash offer."
After googling him and finding this site, I will know better than to waste my time with him. Thanks Lorenzo for setting up this blog.
I work for an insurance company in the west village and Ric comes in from time to time and eats the candy in the bowl at the counter. Last week he offered to return with a check for $500K he was going to give me to buy an apt. I will let you know if he returns but I sincerely doubted it then and I'm glad I found this site and confirmed my inner gut feeling all along. He seems like such a nice person, may God help him.
ReplyDeleteOk you seem to have the most recent sighting of Eric. Where are you located? I've been trying to pinpoint him for years. We went to school together and yes he is harmeless...aggravating but harmless. He went mental on a trip to Mexico and hasn't been right since. I figured he needed help but I have not been able for him to give me the truth. So if you could give me that starting point it looks like Ill be making a trip to NY. THANKS!
DeleteI work at 8th St and McDougal between 5th and 6th Ave in the west village. It's a State Farm office. He was in today to tell me the check was being delivered. I just played along because he really believes it.

DeleteAt T. Fant. I just wanted to let you know where you can definely find eric. He's always at most of the fedex offices in the downtown area. He currently comes in and out of thre 70 Spring St location a lot and I was told he be in a book store in the area from time to time. We also have another location on 250 E Houston that he is at a lot to. Please help him if you could its getting to the point that me and my coworkers have to hide from him when he comes in. I've grow rather close to him talking wise but it's becoming very annoying. We know him as Rick the bum..I'm sorry
Deletei can definitely help you find ric as well if you are serious about making the trip. i see him everyday at my coffee truck where i work on 23rd st near madison sq park.
Delete"Rick" is in Georgetown DC now hanging around M and Thomas Jefferson; making the same statements everyone above here has mentioned.
DeleteHe is in virginia beach now!
DeleteI was sitting in chick fila (virginia beach, va) with some friends- we noticed him, thought he was homeless and bought him dinner and he sat with us and talked with us for almost two hours. He is totally harmless, talked about his "business" but more importantly he was so loving and caring. He was truly spirit filled, he obviously has a mental illness and needs help but he has a good heart.
DeleteJulia, unfortunately Ric has tried to use people in his "delusion" - he passed names to me years ago when I was in NYC. Lorenzo's blog helped identify this - Ric used Lorenzo's name before the blog, cancelled a meeting with me when the blog went up, then used Lorenzo's name AFTER the blog. He is aware that he is manipulating people at some level.
DeleteJust met Ric yesterday on west 21st and 8th ave around 3:30 am where he complemented my body and than continued to tell me about his businesses and his books he has written! He seemed completely harmless, gave me a hug and great advice as he thought I was a prostitute! He than proceeded to give me his phone number cause I asked him if I could read his books, I'm currently texting him right now, and he did email 6 of the 5 books he has claimed he wrote! But I am in contact with as I write this post!
DeleteBe careful - he uses names of people. He did that with me back in 2010. Claimed Lorenzo was a HR manager, and had used Tiffany Fant and others in his email claiming he had businesses that needed to be set up. When meeting showed no real work it was becoming clear he was misleading people. Just stay away from him; He can't proof anything beyond having ebooks written with generalities, and at this point it is becoming clear that he leaves a trail of people that may not have lost money, but have clearly been mislead.
DeleteEric has been trying to contact me for years to run his Global Empire. Supposedly, he wants me to manage $40 Billion of Real Estate for 120+ companies. He is the next Warren Buffett in the making. LOL!!!! I was offered a huge signing bonus and millions of dollars in salary. I hope he gets the help he needs.
ReplyDeleteI went to college with him and he always been a very persistent person. Constantly showing up unannounced and uninvited. Not a bad guy and harmless, but I would avoid all contact because he will not leave you alone once you allow him in your life. Still texts and calls my cell phone on occasion. My caller ID says, "Do Not Answer". It's Sad.
Eric helped me out when I needed it. I had been mugged in Chicago and in the process I lost my only way of communication. This was some where around 04 or 05. He talked to me during the whole event and at the time, I had never been scammed before but he was very kind about it. He let me borrow the cellphone he had to get a hold of my family. Recently he has been on Facebook trying to talk about me starting my own corporation and such. If anyone sees him, please see if we can get him some help. The man has a kind heart and a good soul. I hated that I had to block him on FB but it had to be done. So if anyone see's him or hears of him, try and see if you can get him some help and let me know how he is doing.
ReplyDeleteThank you for saying something nice. He was a student in the high school where I taught. One year he was the president of the club I advised - CASE Club. Care About Someone Else. He truly did Care About Someone Else. His present situation saddens my heart. I wish I could help him.
DeleteForgive me, Pastor Sarah, but I had to add. The reason this site was started was because he claimed people's names as "officers" as part of his businesses. He approached my business that way, presenting the author and then tried to deny it when questioned; If the page author had not responded Eric would have damaged my business and others. It's a clear problem, one that he continued on his own Facebook page and one so extensive that straight-forward counseling is clear. I agree it is sad - only time had become clear that there's a disorder at work (plus others stepping forward). But the unfortunate reality is that he will not ever receive care because of his persistent refusal and attempt to manipulate. Thank you for posting you comments to try to humanize him, however.
DeleteWOW. Eric is one of my high school classmates. The last time I saw him was in '03. I know I speak for a lot of our classmates when I say, "Eric please get help."
ReplyDeleteRic has been in DC for some time now. He comes to the Foundation Center almost every day. He is in bad shape -- he have any family?
ReplyDeleteRic is in the Virginia Beach area around Atlantic Avenue and 31st Street as of 11/26/13. I've had the same encounter pretty much everyone else here has. Mentioned he's married and worth 360 billion dollars. He was very, very pleasant. Says he owns multiple companies and had a very large binder filled with handwritten notes and names and numbers...etc. He didn't try to "hire" me or "scam" me, this was all just basic conversation and left at that.
ReplyDeleteI commented above, but yes I ran into him at Chick Fila at Hilltop today, such a nice loving guy. I agree about getting him help!
DeleteCome on people!! You get emails everyday talking about "getting rich" schemes. How can anyone fall for his storys? Remember if it's too good to be true than it's not! It's so obvious that's he's mentally ill. And by the way for those of you who have fallen for his story; I have some oceanfront property in Kansas to sell you. Real cheap!
ReplyDeleteLooks like he is currently in the 757...encountered him at Best Buy today, the usual story that all of you describe, no job offer of any kind. My BS meter went off when he said his company "wasn't online" and he wasn't even Facebook friends with his "husband". Seemed like a nice dude though.
ReplyDeleteOk , so i originally ran into this guy about a month or sp ago, very nice. Told me the same thing all of you describe here. I didn't get his name at first until an hour ago while I was in Wal-Mart. Honestly, i don't know what to believe. Because on so many levels, he gets it, he's a very smart, nice, an intellectual guy. Yes it sounds too good to be true, But at the same rate, did anybody here lose anything? Did you get robbed in any sort of way. I find my self believing both sides, but it could be that his "global empire" is more on a spiritual level than an economic one. Did anybody else feel inspired after talking to him? Because that's where success truly begins. He just seems like he's trying to make people see the world in a different way, which frankly, we all should. Not saying I will follow through with him helping me start my "entertainment company" but at the same rate. He gave me something that not a lot of people can do, and that's the hope and the drive to want to start that myself. Maybe I'm just as crazy but if Thats the point he was trying to get across, then I guess I'm the only who gets it too Haha I send an ocean of love to all of you :) Good day from Virginia Beach!

DeleteI agree eric is a wonderful person filled with great spirit. He comes to see me everyday at Pembroke Mall. Harmless guy!
DeleteEric is always in my walgreens at about 2am and is one of my best customers only because of his tall tales.
Deletei have seen him recently in the lynnhaven area of Virginia beach. hes a nice man but hes trying to buy me a house and a car and ALOT of horses my own jet line and making me the ceo with 6 billion dollars. im goingto try and get him a job with me and hopefully get him off the streets. hes a really good man but he does need help. im gonna try and help him out
ReplyDeleteWere you able to help him get a job? What happened? If you already answered, I will see it below.
DeleteThis guy is good!, Seemed perfectly nice, but not sure why he does what he does. Thanks to this blog I saved myself a lot of time. He just called me from 757-450-5818, which apparently is in Virginia Beach.

After reading all of the posts listed above and contemplating my own recent experience with Eric, I have come to believe that Eric becomes what the person he encounters want or need him to be. For the most part, he has been completely himself. In most of the above postings, he appeared to be homeless or not totally rational. For the person that Eric offered grand sums of money, he became a lottery ticket. For the person that he offered a job, he became an opportunity. For the person that saw him as homeless (of which I was one), he became a charity of sorts, and for the person that saw him a scam artist, he became a joke. I met Eric yesterday and invited him to church. He came and participated in the entire service. He showed a spiritual side (either authentic or practiced) that blessed the entire house regardless to intent. He never asked for anything, and yes he did benefit because we took him with us to eat after service but it was our suggestion, not his. He talked about many ideas and business ventures. He spoke about a wife of one year by the name of Nikki, and he talked extensively about the bible. He may be defined as a quagmire. A person difficult to understand or ascertain. Homeless? In many respects. Eccentric? Too a great degree. Rich? Depending on who's perspective or vantage point. Scam Artist? Maybe, if he sold something/took something, received monetary gain/or any other benefit, and left a person without a good or service. For some of us however; his dreams and ideas, as far fetched as they might have been, were free. Is it "more" sad that he does not meet society's expectation or that we expect him to be "more" than what he actually is? Could he be no more than an intelligent man housed with a psychosis. One thing's for certain, I will never forget Mr. Eric Rawls causing perhaps to become one of his "successful" business ventures. He impacted at least one day of my life. Cha Ching! He might be a multimillionaire after all.

DeleteHe's been hanging around the Town Center of Virginia Beach. He came into my work the other day asking if I wanted to make billions like him...but couldn't pay for the bag of chips that cost $1.44...
DeleteLeila, Eric was raised in church. He truly loves the Lord. You had a day with the real Eric Rawls. I am reminded that he had a girlfriend named Nikki. I didn't know her. Wow. This blessed me.
Deletehe comes into my jersey Mikes off Virginia Beach Boulevard almost everyday he is an amazingly kind competent man with a mental problem you can tell off the bat that he is delusional but very nice and inspiring. He told my boyfriend that he's been tjrough tragedy and that if he tells and convinces himself that he has this company and money that he can look past it and not be down about life. He has offered me jobs but has never asked for anything but to fill his cup with ice or for mints. Hes great and I want tio help him get the care he needs
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with most on here that he is a very kind inspiring person and has in no way tried to scam me.
ReplyDeleteMet Eric in NYC on the street at the park on Spring and Lafayette. Definitely looked disheveled, but was working it in an eccentric way, had a new copy of the Harvard Business Review mixed in with his books and papers. Was an exceptionally warm and compassionate individual, who imparted some interesting bits of knowledge, or rather wisdom:
ReplyDelete- Give Love to Everyone Everywhere
- Accept my manifestation to be rich
- The Universe needs fellowship
- Love is telepathic
- Frustration is the spirit looking to go another direction
- Death is just a change of address
I think he is following the mantra that if you believe something utterly, or enough people believe something, it becomes true. He presented himself as a billionaire with his company in Virginia Beach. I kind of like the concept that he is, but just not in dollars and cents. His connection with our reality is only partial.
Really did almost believe his story of the eccentric million(billion)-aire. Until I fond this webpage. Glad to see that he just is and does not seek to con people out of money. Also glad to see this and I hope others who talk with him do not frustrate themselves with their efforts. A couple who knew him said hello while we were talking to him, said "He owns lots of buildings around here" ...
In a way he reminds me of the Emperor of America, an interesting street character from the turn of the century in San Francisco. Also this whole blog is so reminiscent of 6 degrees of separation where the charming character played by will smith works his way into the lives of upper class american society.
We called him a street philosopher. I wish him well and hope his activities have a positive impact; that he finds what he is looking for, as do we.
Unfortunately Ric uses people in his schemes - he keeps naming In The Loft as a "TV show coming soon" but that was back in 2008. Here is the PR he did
Deletehttps://www.prlog.org/10138649-in-the-loft-for-new-television-an-more.html
Eric Rawls is also Facebook and Twitter to make similar fraud pitches. He used Lorenzo's name with me years ago, as well as other people from his Linked In background - this blog was created to let me know the deal.
He is well spoken, which gets him near people, but can not offer more than generalities and has mislead people over several years.

ReplyDeleteYou can find him on FB He will let you know where he is
ReplyDeleteReally happy I came across this page. I searched for his company Rawls Collaborative Consultants on LinkedIn the day I met him at Starbucks near Wallstreet and it surprisingly came up. However the tons of furniture stores he is "opening" and the photography studio he is helping me "open" made me look at him sideways. People can be nice, but this man sells dreams! Not cool.
ReplyDeleteHe promised me jobs and contracts as well. Even help with my rent. But after getting all these emails from him but no real meet up day or time I decided to Google his name and this blog came up. I won't lie... I am hurt. Not because of his failed promises, but because I told him not to lie to me and he swore that he wasnt. Also i wasted 2 hours talking to him about my dreams thinking that he actually could help. I guess I should've known better when the "billionaire" demolishes the cookie I gave him in less than 3 seconds. Besides his appearance of course, that alone should have gave me vibrant red flags.
On a positive note I would say that he left me encouraged and enlightened. He spoke of God and the universe which helped me feel better about my current situation. So for that I thank him, however I just wish he would stop running around the country giving false hope to ppl. You can preach and encourage people without lying to them.
Our problems are not his, however we could do more with our time than to be lied to by a messiah on earth that says he is here to save us. I just hope everyone else that he approaches will Google him as well.
Thank you to the starter of this blog. Yea he may not be a scam artists that takes money, but he's a con artist pretending to be something that he is not in order to trick people into believing something. No matter how many stories of hope he gives you, that is still wrong. Glad I won't be fooled any longer because eventually the "business lunches" and wasted trips to meet him adds up and does result in losing money. Good luck everyone and may he get the help he needs.
PS... for the guy who said he preys on white people that's not true. I am an African American woman. So don't get ahead of yourself. He doesn't see color.... just an opportunity to get inside your head regardless of your race.
ReplyDeleteVery true. I stopped working with Ric years ago when it became clear he was using names from his Linked In and people from his encounters as "partners". Glad that you broke away from his mess.

ReplyDeleteI just met him yesterday and had my suspicions right off the bat. Obviously, I found this page via a google search to see if his company was real. Super nice guy probably trying to make the best out of a crappy situation. Most homeless people (if he is homeless) get ignored constantly and it's extremely demeaning. Though it definitely doesn't excuse any scamming he might have done, at least people listen to him and interact and generally enjoy being around him.

DeleteHe's hanging out at Think Coffee (Mercer St and 3rd St) in New York City.
ReplyDeleteHe's saying that he had built 13 companies and he fooled an innocent simple guy who engaged with him for 20 minutes at the coffee shop. He even made sure Eric had his business card to get in touch, but you could see that he regret it as soon as he noticed Eric was carrying 10 empty used plastic cups of Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts and other places.

ReplyDeletePS, I just met him this morning. He gave me the email address eric.rawls@icloud.com Phone number 214-267-??07 It was on Spring Street in Soho
ReplyDeleteI just met Eric at Housing Works in Soho. He was extremely friendly to me and gave me lots of advice that was actually relatively sane and useful.
ReplyDeleteThough he also mentioned his companies and all the business he has going and this and that, etc. I had the feeling that it was either all true or there was just nothing to it. But regardless, it was still a refreshing experience to meet him. Even after finding out that none of the business stuff was true.
I did talk to him about relationships and life and found it to be very insightful, though I feel like it was the type of feeling that you get when you go to a psychologist for a session and then find out they were actually just the receptionist.
I hope that he finds a place helping people as he claims that he loves to do. I believe he is a good person with some sort of misguidance.
He is aware of his misguidance - he tried to fool me in NYC years ago by passing off names of people in his social media. Lorenzo was also referenced, which lead to this blog. I dropped Ric as a potential client immediately. Ric is well spoken, but if you listen to his Spreaker posts, he is only speaking in generalities. In the Loft, a "TV show" he is working on, has been referenced in a 2008 PR attempt - he has used that name on Twitter as well. Unfortunately Ric continues his fraud attempts online.
DeleteGlad you are listening to my podcasts. Shows they are reaching the audience. I hope you are continuing to look for the life you are striving for. Positive thinking is reaching the massive.
DeleteNo it's empty promises, just like the names of people you presented back in 2010. Claiming business expertise without one shred of evidence that any business existed. The universe is just responding to what you've produced, which is false claims and using people.
DeleteRich's at the Apple Store in SoHo almost every day. I wish we could help him...
ReplyDeletePlease discourage his visits if you can. He has posted pics of himself through the computers in Facebook, and has used social media to promote fraudulent events, passing himself as a businessman/TV personality for years. He is well aware that his attempts are frauds, and will not own up to it if you confront him. The best option is to discourage his loitering.

ReplyDeleteI've run into Eric many times in midtown NYC. He's always offering me jobs and opportunities, (which I kindly decline). As far as I can tell, he seems harmless, and would be incapable of actually pulling off an intricate scam. But it took me a while to get a handle on him, because what he says at first is quite outrageous, and he gives the impression of a well-spoken, kind person. I'm not in a place to help him, but I hope he gets help he needs. He contacted me recently through email and I found this blog upon googling him. I doubt in his current condition he's fooling many people, (clearly homeless), but I'm glad folks have this blog to get more info.
ReplyDeleteJust met Eric today (10/1/16) at a Starbucks off of Spring st NYC. Was on my way out was stopped, in a kindly manner, by Eric. Politely introduced himself, proceeded to compliment me and mention I should enter the modeling industry. He was dressed very poorly, but I held my judgements and decided to listen, as he didn't ask for any money or information from me. I told him I was on my way out to meet a friend and had only a minute, and he mentioned he is in the industry and wanted to connect me with modeling opportunities. While he was looking for a pen, very frantically and in a disorganized manner, proceeded to ask me what I'm into and what I want to do with my life. I told him, and he then claimed he owns a fitness center, wrote 10 self help books, and more - all pertaining to the topics I brought up. I asked for a card, he didn't have one, he then wrote down his name and email (the same @icloud one mentioned above) and 214-267-6097, and 213-529-6137.
ReplyDeleteYes he may be lying, in a sense, and yes maybe delusional, but I don't think he 'needs help' as people state. He seems very happy and lively, and if he's in an illusion and enjoying who's to take that dream away from him? Maybe he's the sane one and we're all somewhat delusional after all?
No, unfortunately Ric uses the names of the people he encounters offline and pretends that those persons are part of his company. Lorenzo posted this blog years ago, to let me know what was going on (Ric approached me, tried to pass Lorenzo's name, then backed off when this was posted). I also have emails and copies of text from that time as well.

ReplyDeleteHe just messaged me on Facebook to Cast for him lol no thanks.
ReplyDeleteI just met him at Housing Works Bookstore in SoHo.
ReplyDeleteHe politely asked if he could sit at my table, to which I agreed. He started jotting down stuff in a calendar but soon asked me what I was writing. Then he went on to tell me he was a writer who had published more than 15 self-help books. He was indeed looking like a homeless person, carrying a big backpack and two big bags. He complained about how exhausting it was to coordinate the TV show he was currently working on. The old newspapers stuffed in his backpack were, he told me, "production paperwork", which I found funny.
I never doubted he was delusional, or a pathologic liar, but seemed harmless and I listened to his monologue for a while. It was mainly new-age clichés like "the Universe always gives you what you want" and "you are always, always, on someone's mind. You are never alone". He swore he had read some of my articles (in the Spanish media!). He was actually friendly, but a bit intrusive, so after a while I stopped listening and kept on doing my thing.
Our conversation wasn't over. After writing down some more "appointments" in his calendar, he went back to it: "I am seeing that you had some problems with your family back in Spain, but the Universe is telling me that the problems are fixed". I found annoying that he tried to tap into a potential weakness. I assumed he does so often, either to impress or get something from random people. I just laughed at the statement and kept on writing.
Before leaving, he looked at me gravely and stated: "People who voted for Donald Trump are pretty much on drugs". Then he apologized for leaving --he was late to a meeting--, grabbed his bags and left.
I met Ric today. He's grown out his beard, and his contact info changed slightly (a different phone and the same email with a "." between Ric and Rawls. He was very handsy and tried to pick me up in a coffee shop on the LES. He also said remarkable similar things, down to the business meeting and not judging a book by its cover. He also claimed to run two companies: one being in the energy business, the other in video entertainment. He didn't offer me a job but did his best to motivate me to contact him. All I left him was an Instagram handle which could easily block him. Happy he peaked my curiosity so I googled his name.
ReplyDeleteCEAR appreciate the feedback.
Deletehttp://www.lulu.com/ric_rawls - here are the books if you can't afford them (which it appeared you couldn't) please hit me up I will be more than glad to send them to you.
DeleteGlad to meet you and the authenticity you presented. You are awesome. Stay up and stay happy.
DeleteNo Ric you tried this stunt in 2010; I still have the emails to back up this claim.
DeleteCEAR, you did the right thing in posting on here.
DeleteYou know it's interesting when you reading something that people have written about you, especially when most of these people have spent less than an hour or so knowing you. It's truly amazing, at how low people think of think of themselves to agree with someone who they never have met, know nothing about, or have no relationship to or why they have posted it in the first place.
ReplyDeleteI normally do not respond to low life way of thinking from a bunch of people who reflect it, but I have to admit, when you read what other people write about people they do not know or have no depth of relationship with, you have to wonder, how miserable are they? .
Its amazing how much interest people have in someone else's life when they do not know the person or what they are doing or saying. It shows a clear lack of humanity, kindness, and even self respect that they have for themselves. Most of people on here post gossip, they cannot verify, or have no claims to. It would appear they are insecure, inept, or lack the ability to talk directly to anyone or to even reach out to the very person they are gossiping about. It also shows the fragileness of their own mind as well as the depth of their depravity within.
The next time you feel like posting something about someone you do not know, remember people are going to do it to you also. It will follow you the rest of your life. You are not perfect, nor are you in the position to judge another person or people as clearly seen by these postings. When you are truly free and are without sin as they say, please feel free to cast the first stone. I am sure your mothers would love to see what kind of children they have raised: ignorant, uniformed and prejudice people who lack basic morals, understanding, and the ability to mind their business.
http://www.lulu.com/ric_rawls - here is a page of my books. If you want one, you are more than happy to get one for free. The universe still loves all of you.
DeleteI still have emails from 2010 where you referenced people as claimed colleagues. You referenced Tiffany Fant at that time, and she has also claimed that you mislead people on this thread. If it came to court, you would have much to explain.
DeleteHere the link to the PR on In The Loft that you released in 2008, naming two other people as well.
Deletehttps://www.prlog.org/10147307-the-loft-morning-show.html
His book is called "Simplicity in Life Yes you can have it" i purchased the book off amazon. My neighbor purchased off lulu. Go on lulu you can read some. Eric is very nice. The book is very interesting
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately Ric's profile displays fraud info (international businessman, speaker, etc.). He has claimed numerous times to producing shows online (in The Loft, awards shows etc.) He really ruins any chance of people helping him by making fraud claims, to a point where interaction should be cautioned because it is co-enabling his behavior, not correcting it.
DeleteRic Rawls you can not be telling people you have jobs for them knowing its not true. You need to promote your book and write more instead of lieing to people in order to get their friendship. People will respect you more. I wrote a comment earlier to day letting them know about your book. When you meet people that should be the first thing out of your mouth insyead of a job offer.
ReplyDeleteRic has also filled his Facebook with "followers" to appear as if he has numbers, using friends and people along the way. Unfortunately he presents upcoming "programs" that clearly do not exists, but has presented names from people he has met. Fortunately he's been doing this scam for so long that people are finally seeing through it. Stay clear of people like this who snap people and court association because they can use your image to trick others as if they have authority.

ReplyDeleteFound him he likes to go to the McNally Jackson book store in soho and goes to Wall Street claiming he is "filming"
ReplyDeleteHe has motivated me to think bigger and strong and not let the little things get to me, I'd say he is a human positive shield.
This is the other PRs Ric released in the past; none of these projects came to past - no images, video, or proof of existence beyond a PR claim. These were published in 2008, 2009. The one titled Eradicate AIDs is a film solicitation for donations. A track record of using digital media to mislead is clear from this activity.

ReplyDeletewe are judged not for our intentions but for our action (by our actions: karma) words are actions
ReplyDeleteFYI it’s 2020 and he is still scamming people. I too believed him after meeting him in New York on a business trip. He’s a nice man but he’s not all there and his delusions of grandeur were at a all time high. I wanted to believe his offer but he has lied a lot to me
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry Ric is so sick. He probably believes everything he tells everyone. He lives in a dream world. I feel so sorry for him.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately the same behavior of mentioning imaginary business relationships and "new shows/event coming" has continued on his Instagram reels and podcast, though he comes across as he's just a guy with made-up opinions, so it is not as problematic as when he had actually used real people and give behind the scenes comments as if his business/projects were real when they are not. This is sad that no meaningful mental health assistance has made a significant improvement, though it appears he has a roof over his head with people who are watching him. Sometimes that's the best people can do.

ReplyDeleteThank you for your messages and sharing your stories. I hate to hear that you all went through so many negative experiences with him.
ReplyDeleteI’m Eric’s oldest cousin on his mother’s side. It’s disheartening to hear about his past dealings, but I humbly ask that you provide him with grace and compassion. I’m sure his shortcomings and misgivings have disappointed and even angered some of you. Unfortunately we had no idea that he was roaming from VA to DC to NY. My family have been working diligently to help him move forward and embrace his current reality.
Especially since he has been with us since the pandemic. Even members of our family may find it tough to reconcile his actions with what we now know; I however still believe it’s important to approach him with understanding.
My family will continue to encourage him to make better choices moving forward. Please keep him and us in your prayers.
I’m so sorry to tell you guys but he is still going around telling people these made up stories. He currently in GA.
ReplyDeleteHe comes to my job almost everyday between the hours of 2am-5 am and doesn’t leave until 6am-8am. I would always see him but I finally decided to have a conversation with him back in February of this year (2025) and he told me that he has this production company called Urban city and even showed me his so called work on instagram.
At first, I thought he was homeless and stuff because of how he would look but I didn’t want to jump to conclusions because you can’t always judge a book by its cover. He told me that he was going to get my own cooking show and even have it where I cater food for a few of the networks that he works with and I believed him because that what I’ve been trying to work on getting for myself but it’s been really hard. So I took his word for it.
Months go by, he kept saying that everything is going well and that some stuff is going to take a while but I’m still going to get my show and etc. Long story short, nothing has happened and he’s still coming into my job with all these other lies about these so called people he works with and shows that he has coming up.
I don’t bother myself with him anymore. I haven’t spoken to him or wasted my time believing anything from him since June and it’s September now.
